Champagne resides in Belle Chasse with his wife of 28 years, Denise Champagne (formerly Taliancich). Together they have three children, Blake (21), Kaleb (18), and Zachary (18). After a 33-year military career including two combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he retired as a colonel with 22 years of active duty service. Champagne currently works as the Project Manager for Deep South Construction and Salvage. He volunteers at Belle Chasse High School, serves on the Knights of Columbus and is a pastoral council member and altar server at St. Andrew the Apostle.
Champagne coordinated between the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and Plaquemines Parish for multiple hurricanes. He developed the Louisiana National Guard Cyber Response Team, managed construction of the Cyber Lab at Louisiana State University and initiated the Cyber Task Force effort with Plaquemines Parish. Champagne has experience with multiple shoring projects and a waste water treatment facility.
